The Outdoor Free Flight Nats Day 1 saw perfect weather conditions, with numerous thermals and models taking advantage of them. Gerald Brown kicked off the contest with a rubber flight, while the RC sailplane Nats were upwind on the north end of the field. The event also included a 12-inch glider competition held on the highest point of the Muncie property, in honor of legend Lee Hines.

The National Aerobatics Championships (Nats) continued with a twist, as a thunderstorm interrupted the event and forced an early conclusion. Despite the chaos, David Fitzgerald emerged as the winner, taking home his 13th championship title. The event also crowned Junior and Senior champions, Gabriel Alimov and Luca Alimov receiving top honors in their respective age groups.
